DASGIP BioLector in the UK and Ireland
After evaluating the success of the BioLector microfermentation system in a variety of applications, DASGIP is now pleased to launch a marketing effort in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. A distribution agreement covering the United States and continental Europe was signed two years ago with m2p-Labs, the Aachen, Germany-based developer of the system. Since then customers from the chemical and pharmaceutical industries as well as university research institutes have successfully utilized the system for high-throughput cell screening. "The marketing success of the BioLector has also led to strong interest in the UK and Ireland. The new distribution agreement will enable us to satisfy the demands of our customer base," explains Christof Knocke, DASGIP European Business Manager.
The DASGIP BioLector permits the parallel online monitoring of cell growth and protein production in up to 96 cultures. Moreover, parameters such as pH and dissolved oxygen can be monitored in each well. Continuous shaking allows the constant exchange of gases between the cells and the environment, creating an optimally defined atmosphere for each type of cell. That means users can assess the quality of numerous cell lines or strains in parallel and in small working volumes between 100 and 1000 µL. The system supports 48 or 96 well microtiterplates.
"We are pleased to be able to serve the strong UK biotechnology market with the BioLector," adds Dr. Thomas Drescher, CEO of DASGIP AG. "This enhancement to our parallel bioreactor systems now positions us to offer UK customers the complete DASGIP product portfolio." The sales effort is already underway in the UK and Ireland.
