TV-Report on drug against respiratory dust
Ectoin, which is used in sun lotion to protect sunburn and skin aging should help to minimize skin strain as well as breath strain that is caused through respirable dust. According to the Institute of environmental medicine research in Duesseldorf much hope is pinned on the potential of this agent to alleviate the noxious effects of respirable dust.
With the help of DASGIP Parallel Bioreactor Systems researchers from biotop could extract Ectoin from Halomonas elongata bacteria. This natural material is lyophilized and is pulverized afterwards. Recently, Ectoin is used only in sun lotion, but researchers are working on a preparation which can be inhaled.
